The Williamson Hall is where it happens and has done so since it was built in 1881. Historically, the Trustees of the hall are the Elders of the Parish Church and it is run by a management committee made up of representatives of regular hall users and anyone who is interested. The hall is available for private parties and is wellused throughout the week by the Parent and Toddler group, playgroup and after school club to name but a few.

The small management group work very hard to continually improve the facilities. New tables were recently purchased and the lighting was upgraded. The main fundraising event is the Gala and the Hall committee are indebted to the Gala committee who now organise the event. The Gala will only be successful with your support and it is great fun getting involved. The Hall runs a 100 club which is drawn monthly. If you would like to join please

contact Evelyn Scobie (850496) and for £12 annually you could win £15 every month.

Villages are all about people, some villages are sleepy and some are vibrant. It is all to easy to complain ‘there is nothing to do’. In a village things only happen if the residents are prepared to get mucked in and participate. Come on join in and make the village a better place for everyone. The Hall committee want to make the hall a very user-friendly facility, regularly refurbishing when cash is available. The kitchen area is the next project on the list and it will only happen with your support, not only financially but with a willingness to support events. We would welcome any suggestions on how we can improve the facilities or ideas for fundraising. Please leave your suggestions in the box at the hall

As you read in the March Newsletter, the Williamson Hall has been undergoing a refurbishment programme, and the Hall Management Committee are happy to report that the latest phase, the kitchen refurbishment, has now been completed!  Come along and see for yourself the transformation!  The kitchen has been upgraded with installation of new units, new freezer, new flooring, new cupboards and flooring in the ante room.  The ladies and gents toilets have also been painted, and baby changing facilities installed in the ladies cloakroom.  This has only been possible due to the support by everyone at this year's Gala, when the marvellous sum of £4,700 was raised.  The Hall Man- agement Committee would like to thank everyone for their help and support, financially and otherwise, and also a big thank you to the Gala Committee, Andrea, Jill and Kirsty for all their hard work in organising this year's Gala.  Next year's Gala will be the 50th so let's make it a good one!  Our next project will be the main hall floor, which is badly needing attention.

Watch this space.

Dear Interested Incomer and everyone else

I am pleased that you are showing an interest in Village life, you will be made very welcome at any of the organisations.  In a previous Crier I mentioned the Williamson Hall.  I do not know if you have been there but let me tell you something about it.

The trustees of the hall are the elders of Abernethy & Dron Parish Church.  The day to day running of the hall is left to a Management Committee.   The Management Committee is ideally 2 representatives from each of the hall regular users and any member of the public who is interested. At the most recent meeting Toddlers, Playgroup,  Kids Club,  Rainbows, Line Dancers and Tower Singers  & the Church were represented .

The AGM was held in November and 2 members demitted office after several years on the committee.  Thank you to them for all their years of service. We were without a secretary and vice chair, I am pleased that since AGM we have now found a minute secretary .

Ideally we would also like someone to join our committee who has some spare time and willing to be handy man , able to do small repairs and  contact tradesmen when required.  Perhaps you have time but do not want to be a member of the committee I am sure we could accommodate this.   The committee would also welcome anyone who is interested and would like to be involved in the management of the hall.

The hall is used constantly throughout the week with childrens activities, keep fit and line dancing. Weekend bookings are on the increase and  the Girls Brigade from  Aberdeen have their annual  holiday  in August   staying for 6 days.

The Hall is maintained by a Management committees throughout its life and the revenue to   improve the facilities comes from bookings and the profit from the Gala.

The hall is available for all to use.  The management committee would welcome some additional members  with new ideas and lots of enthusiasm.

The hall committee would be delighted to see you at our next meeting ,  Monday 29th March at 7 30pm at the Hall.

Please contact Kathleen  Baird  Chair 01337840218 for more information.

The Williamson Hall is a great venue for booking any type of function, meeting, party, children or adult group event, whether on a regular basis or a one off occasion.  Rates are very reasonable and start from £7 per hour .  We have a fully equipped kitchen for all your catering needs and the main hall can hold up to 100 people.  Why not consider the local hall for your next event.
