ABERNETHY HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

Evening Talks and Meetings 2015-2016

The evening talks will be held in the Masons’ Hall, Abernethy, at 7:30pm unless stated otherwise. All are welcome, just turn up on the day. Prices are £2.50 on the door, or annual membership is only £10 (£18 for couples) and members get entry to all talks for free!

14th October 2015 Plant Hunting Travels, Jonathan Davies-Coleman. Jonathan is a 4th year student at the RHS botanic in Edinburgh, part time employee at Glendoick, and already an experienced plant hunter. He will share stories from his travels in Bhutan.

11th November 2015 Propagation, Clare Reaney. Come ready to learn... Clare will bring samples and do demonstrations on how to divide and multiply your plants.

9th December 2015 The return of The Quiz and Gardeners' Question Time, AHS style. Participation for all, BYO questions.

 13th January 2016 Bellfield Organics, Derek Alexander. A talk on what life is like as a commercial grower of organic vegetables in Abernethy, for supply to households across central Scotland.

10th February 2016 The Country Garden Company, Amanda Fawzi. Amanda makes her living selling flowers for weddings and events, all grown in her back garden in Cupar.

16th March 2016 AGM. With updates on “Abernethy In Bloom” and maybe even a mystery speaker.

13th April 2016 Pollination and Beasties, Angela Lloyd. Angela is a lecturer and researcher on organic growing and the role of insects in horticulture.

June 2016, date and time TBC The Annual AHS Road Trip – location and date to be confirmed.
