FROM THE CHAIR

Welcome to "The Twenties". I wonder what adjective will be used to describe the next ten years. I read an article in the Press just after New Year questioning as to whether we were really entering a new decade or finishing off the last one. Counting correctly I would suggest we are starting the next ten year. Food for thought.

Looking through the pages of this edition there is much to interest and entertain you starting with the entries to the photographic competition proving what a beautiful place Abernethy is.

With spring in the air we are all now focusing on outdoor pursuits; gardens, tennis, equine events, the clocks changing to summertime and Easter holidays so take note of dates, subscriptions etc.

I am delighted to read Gordon Miller's article about the resurgence of the Scout Movement in Abernethy. Because of the regular use of the Pavilion by the boys several improvements have been made, both inside and out.

Abernethy is very fortunate in having so many venues viz the Williamson Hall. the Masons' Hall and the Pavilion able to accommodate any kind of gathering large or small, exhibitions or activities; not many villages can make such a claim.

Are the "Auld Abernethians" getting younger or am I just getting older? I wonder when I can say truthfully (using the Scottish expression) "I kent his faither" and his mother too.

Anyway, over to you and enjoy a good read.
