PERTH AND KINROSS QUALITY OF LIFE TRUST AWARDS 2012

Perth and Kinross Quality of Life Trust annually celebrate the achievements of Children, Young People, Communities and Voluntary Organisations across the area and this year is no exception.  Perthshire Positive Action Awards 2012 was held on Thursday 1 November at the AK Bell Library in Perth and, this year, Abernethy was honoured.

Our community was chosen to receive a Perthshire Positive Action Award in the “Community Spirit” category.  The award recognises the overall effort of a geographical community to enhance their quality of life over a number of years.  Perth and Kinross Quality of Life Trust chose to recognise the collective work carried out by the Community of Abernethy, to include the Williamson Hall Committee, The Parks Committee and, in particular, the litter picking efforts of Sheena McNaughton and Bridget MacDonald.  For anyone who isn’t aware, Bridget and Sheena have been pounding the streets every Wednesday for the last 8 years picking up the litter and keeping our streets clean and tidy, and ensuring Abernethy remains an attractive place to live.

Attending the Awards were Anna MacNeill, Jill Young and Gail Meek, Williamson Hall Committee, Evelyn Scobie, Parks Committee and Sheena McNaughton and Bridget MacDonald.

Well done Abernethy, and here’s hoping that together we can keep up the good work!
