JUNE 2009 - EDITORIAL

Dear Readers,

I am beginning to have a new respect for journalists and columnists; those responsible for producing daily and even  weekly newspapers Those of us involved in the production of the Crier feel we have just got one issue "hot off the press" when we are thinking about the next in another 3 months!

You will see from this issue we are becoming more ambitious with the addition of one or two photographs. What next? Glorious technicolour! That, of course would cost more to print and we have to keep the books balanced. The Crier is free to all households but donations will be gratefully received The Corner Shop, Brian Greig and the Culdees Tearoom have all agreed to hold collection boxes so any loose change is always helpful.

A lot has been happening in Abernethy since the last Crier came out------an MBE awarded to an Abernethy School former pupil whose Father still lives here, a prestigious award from CAMRA to a local publican ,a fantastic response to the Romanian Appeal, several well-attended coffee mornings and the A.G.M.s of a number of organisations. Read on, the details are in the inside pages.

The usual winter activities have drawn to a close and we are looking forward to spring and summer. The Crier will be out just before Gala Week, by which time you will have received the fliers but we have a summary of events included just as a reminder if needed.

The Museum will have re-opened as from 16th May and will close again on 27th September, details of the new exhibition are included in this edition plus various events taking place over the season. Everyone will be hoping for a dry and sunny Gala Day, indeed for all the events over Gala Week.

Enjoy the summer, participate in the village activities, gathering the news and making new friends. There is a lot going on, join in and enjoy being part of Abernethy and Aberargie and most importantly keep the news coming in.

The next issue of the Crier will be out at the beginning of September so we need to hear from you by the last day of July.

Thanks to all who have contributed to this issue and also to those who submitted advertisements.
